Placebo

I’m almost sure that you’ve already heard e/or read about the placebo effect. This phenomenon is extensively and well described as well documented in Wikipedia, but take some seconds to read this part:

«In one common placebo procedure, a patient is given an inert pill, told that it may improve his/her condition, but not told that it is in fact inert. Such an intervention may cause the patient to believe the treatment will change his/her condition (…) A placebo described as a muscle relaxant will cause muscle relaxation and if described as the opposite, muscle tension. A placebo presented as a stimulant will have this effect on heart rhythm, and blood pressure, but when administered as a depressant, the opposite effect. The perceived consumption of caffeine has been reported to cause similar effects even when decaffeinated coffee is consumed, although a 2003 study found only limited support for this. Alcohol placebos can cause intoxication and sensorimotor impairment. Perceived ergogenic aids can increase endurance, speed and weight-lifting ability, leading to the question of whether placebos should be allowed in sport competition. Placebos can help smokers quit. Perceived allergens which are not truly allergenic can cause allergies. Interventions such as psychotherapy can have placebo effects. The effect has been observed in the transplantation of human embryonic neurons into the brains of those with advanced Parkinson’s disease.»

So my reflection is very simple, and obvious, I think…

(I don’t have current numbers but) In 2005 the U.S. spent $95 billion on medical research (note that there are more than 3.000 companies that make medical research in the U.S.) and how many real studies where made to investigate this natural power of the body to heal without chemicals?

If the body responds positively, to a positive suggestion, why there isn’t more money, resources, human potential invested in expanding the natural and positive body responses?

Wouldn’t it be more naturally normal to seek out the natural power of self-healing of the human body, instead of the abnormally normalized procedures of producing chemical compounds to attack the diseases (which are sometimes side effects of other chemicals)?

This is to young people, future scientists: meditate about the placebo effect, investigate the bio responses of people submitted to placebos, act according to your inner nature and wisdom, don’t let yourself be infected by the negative side of money and most important of all: be loving to humanity.

New wise and loving scientists and researchers are needed.

The Real (?) Vampires

Are vampires real?

I’m not sure as I’ve never seen one.

Nevertheless the concept is really attention-grabbing: «beings who subsist by feeding on the life essence (generally in the form of blood) of living creatures».

And that expression, «feeding on the life essence of living creatures», reminded me of situations where other persons tried to suck my life force using, not teeth, but words and emotions.

Situations where I didn’t entered into social games of adulation and power and left my point of view – suddenly, my status went from «nice guy» to «arrogant guy», implicitly stating «be quiet, agree with what I just said, you must let me keep manipulating you!»

Situations where I didn’t tolerate spiritual abuses and manipulation of groups of students and left my point very clear – suddenly my status went from «loving guy» to «intolerant and aggressive guy», implicitly imposing «be quiet, let me keep abusing you and the others, let me keep manipulating you!».

These are the real teeth of the real vampires: words and emotions that perforate our consciousness and suck our dignity and personal power, killing us softly, transforming us into people with no will, with a weakened life force.

But wouldn’t it be more naturally normal to use words and emotions to lift people, to spread abundance of joy, harmony, love and brotherhood?

I believe so.

And I trust that many of you, naturally, believe so.

However to do so, you need to have personal power, a strong life force, genuine love. Being bitten by one these vampires can’t turn us into new vampires. If we survive, we have the moral responsibility to call the attention of others to the invisible teeth of the real (?) vampires, some of them cloaked as very advanced and enlightened spiritual people or shrouded with an image of innocence.

How can we protect ourselves from these vampires?

Pretending we don’t “see” them, not playing their mind games and only unmasking them if you are alone with them, otherwise they put themselves on the victim role, and this way they vampirizes (generally) everybody around that don’t understand the dynamic that’s taking place.

So, have you ever been vampirized?

If so, remember of that person, close your eyes and state: «I want my power back, now!».

Breath deeply, absorb your power, and state «Loka Samasta Sukino Bawantu».

And get back to your naturally normal state of wholeness.

The Abuse of The Abuse

Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams

It’s amazing how the abuse is normalizing on our society. And I’m not referring only to the sexual abuse that occurs in private homes where the walls are usually the only silent witnesses of heinous and abnormal acts, and where in average, one in each three teens are abused.

I’m referring to other abuses.

To the abuses committed by banks and other financial institutions which stimulate indebtedness, to people which minds are constantly enthused with advertising; and to the self-abuses of the other party, the consumer, who ends up to be imprisoned in the bars of loans and credit cards.

To the self-abuses committed by selling the own dignity and intimacy, in order to climb the employment hierarchy; and to the abuse of power of the other party, who uses his status, to abuse of these mentally disturbed persons.

To the abuses made when people uses their spiritual knowledge to manipulate vulnerable individuals, through fear, false promises or power games; and to the self-abuses of the other party, when they silent agree to submit to the twisted intellect of the first ones.

To the abuses of power, through implicit threats, which force other people to work beyond their contract’s labour hours without the respective wage compensation; and to the self-abuses of the other party, the worker, which turns out to undergo with this new kind of sophisticated slavery.

And of course that this list could go on and on – as there are so many human beings abusing of the use of the abuse.

It must be said that the abuse is becoming abnormally normalized – and staying silent, is another way of abuse and self-abuse, as silence condones with this abnormal normalization.

Wouldn’t it be more natural, that respect was normalized?

Sure.

It’s a responsibility of each human being to reflect about this: don’t abuse, respect others – don’t self-abuse, respect yourself – and understand that all abuses are always self-abuses. Remember: abuse is counter-nature – respect is naturally normal. What is your choice?

Inner Power

In Portugal, as in many other countries where I have gone to learn esoteric arts and parallel sciences, the majority of teachers and therapists don’t give receipts of the amounts they receive for their services, and therefore, normally, abnormally, they don’t pay taxes.

On the one hand, they are very wise, loving and bright; on the other hand, they express their internal distortion through a bleak social attitude.

There is thus a normal manifestation of an abnormal sub-conscious basis: I was abused, now I also abuse; I have been fooled, now I also deceive others; my dignity was not respected, now I also disrepute.

Wouldn’t be more natural to use the wisdom, love and enlightenment in a more constructive, positive, harmonious and honest way?

Of course, but in these people, still, the Power of Shadow is stronger than the Power of Love.

Which power is stronger inside you?

The Power of Love

I would like to start the first topic of this blog by one issue that’s on the basis of many of the abnormal normalities that we have socialy rooted: the “love” for power.

So the reflection is: in our thoughts, decisions, acts, words, how many times we let the “love” for power be stronger than the Power of Love? We all know that the first option is more normalized, but isn’t the second more natural?
